Heroes in my life (2)

In our everyday lives, heroes stand among us. They come from all sources. From work, from school, from home, or even from just the mall. It is like what Ruth stated in her blog, "You don't have to save lives to be a hero." Even a total stranger may be your hero for just that particular moment in time when you need him/her the most. Heroism takes place everywhere and anywhere on earth at every single time. It is not a rare sight.. Friends themselves are heroes towards each other. Sticking together for each other, helping each other at times of need. I would say that Parents are the most 'famous' heroes on earth. Even if they scold, it is for a good cause, or it is because you rightfully deserve it.

I'm not so sure about other people's perspective, but I think when it comes down to asking people who their Heroes in life are, they will gladly say their ACTUAL heroes. And not some cartoon Superhero. I've asked most of my friends, and many of them have said that their parents will always be their Heroes. It is as though the moment that they were born, they consider their parents as 'Everything' in their lives. I'm having an assumption that even Jesus had a hero, and that Hero was his own mother, Mary.

I've heard or read some random blogs that complains, "Why aren't there any heroes in life?!?!" I think that these people do not see or understand what it takes to be a hero. For me, I would call God my hero for just keeping me alive till this very day. A person who tells you something touching could be your hero. Anyone who just touches you in ANY way might be your hero. You don't have to pick a person's cat from a tree.. Or stop traffic for an old folk to cross the road. For all you know, just by buying a drink for someone could make you a hero. Or even by giving someone HOPE.

God works wonders and makes miracles. He created all of us to give ourselves missions in life and to fulfill them. Try to help as many people as possible and you might just become their heroes. Never give up hope in life for you may be a hero to someone and if you give up, that person might give up. And it might all cause a chain reaction. Hope is immortal because God is immortal. God is many people's heroes. He has made our world peaceful. But there are those who bring it into chaos. Those people need hope. The next time you see someone acting destructive or miserable, the least you could do is talk to that person. For you may just save his/her life.

Heroes in my life (1)

The first thing that really came to my mind the moment I took a single glance at the topic title, was a picture of Superman, Batman and all the other common Superheroes.

But as I read further, I noticed that it was to be about Heroes of God. I am really going to have a hard time thinking and writing this through since before this year, I wasn't really into anything of my own religion.. I just respected it and prayed like any other sensible person would.

Despite my lack of knowledge of story book characters, I only know one good and even great character that will never cease to amaze and amuse me. His name is Moses. Just to share this following summary of the only part that I know about him. (Taken from Wikipedia)

"According to the book of Exodus, Moses was born to a Hebrew mother who hid him when a Pharoah ordered all newborn Hebrew boys to be killed, and ended up being adopted into the Egyptian royal family. After killing an Egyptian slave master, he fled and became a shepherd, and was later commanded by God to deliver the Hebrews from slavery. After the Ten Plagues were unleashed upon Egypt, he led the Hebrew slaves out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, and in the desert for 40 years."

From my perspective, I assume that he is most reknown for that act of courage and loyalty towards God. There have been countless cartoons and even movies about this particular event. What I admire the most about him is that, although he was raised in a royal family, the family that actually ordered Moses own death, he did not learn from their hatred and ways of treating others, especially slaves. There is one occasion in which I admire the most. That particular occasion can be described by the following quote.
"On one occasion, after Moses had grown up,* when he visited his kinsmen and witnessed their forced labor, he saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his own kinsmen. Looking about and seeing no one, he slew the Egyptian and hid him in the sand."
Exodus 2 : 11-12

This moment of heroism alone is enough to touch me and a friend of mine. There are many other Heroes of God that I've admired throughout the years. But Moses will always be my first and favourite Hero. In a certain way, he has made my life easy and peaceful as I've many times tried to follow his kindness.

I am sorry if this entry is too short, but this is all I can think of.

Topic 1: Church groups for me and you (Part 2)

This is my second entry regarding the first topic ::D

I've read the blogs of other participants and I feel as though I can relate better to those who are in CYF. So once again, I'll just try to write what comes to mind. =/

Catherine wrote:
"Being in a ministry is not necessary but it certainly is helpful in keeping oneself closer to God."
And I definitely agree! ::D To me, it seems as though everything grows during sessions, friendship, spiritual and mental development as well as improving one's personality in a better direction. Also, Catherine wrote about Catholics going for mass just as a routine. I would just like to say that it is too common now a days. Even some of the guys in my class just go to church because they think that they must in order to stay 'holy'. There are sadly, even some adults who are partaking the idea of just attending mass for the sake of going through it.

I'm truly sorry if I lack the expected amount of comments, but I just have to agree to all the blogs I've read. They were all perfectly accurate in all the aims required for this contest ::D I've even learned a few things myself by reading them. Of course, I have to give credit to most of them for giving me slight ideas of what to write. Thank you!

Topic 1: Church groups for me and you (Part 1)

The first topic is "Church groups for me and you".
I'm not really sure what to write so I'll just write out what comes to mind.

I am from CYF (Catholic Youth Fellowship) which is a youth group in Risen Christ. I've only been in it for about 4-5 months and I already find it comfortable fitting in. I think I'm the newest member of CYF which kind of tags me. From my perspective, CYF is a church group that consists of both the young and the considerably old. People in CYF are really kind. I have yet to see any unacceptable behaviour. They have helped me in many ways since I've joined. For example, I've had 2 tutors who helped me in my studdies, I've managed to find a "LAN gang" to hang out with & I've made many new friends ::D.

Being in CYF has also helped me improve my understanding of my own religion thanks to the sessions that are held every Friday. When I was in Primary 3, I stopped going to church. I can blame computer for that :P. A friend invited me to Risen Christ last year and now, I'm doing Secondary 2 Catechism. For the past few years, I never really knew much about the background of Christianity and that's another good reason for me to join CYF. I was supposed to have extra private lessons with Cally. But since I am in CYF, I need not have em. Although the extra lessons would be useful since I hope to become a Catechist myself to spread God's word. Of course, right now, I am even thinking of maybe joinin Mustard Seed. But of course, that might be a little bit too much for me to handle since I've got my N's and O's in this and the following year.

Not everyone has the privilege of being in a group that accepts them for who they are and who helps them in anyway possible. If you aren't in a church group yet, I am just simply advising you to join one. Join any one. Of course, it would be better if you were joining one with a friend by your side. Especially if that friend is as willing as you are to join that particular group. Everyone wants to be around people who are fun-loving and helpful. Do not threat if you see people that look like gangsters. "It's mis-leading to judge from externals". There are some people who I thought were frightening just by looking at them. But when they spoke with me, they changed my whole perspective of them.

Although not everyone in CYF is talking as one, I have hope that eventually, everyone will. Being in CYF has it's pros and cons. But there is an obvious majority of positive leads. As I've said, this is all I can think of writing. ::D Hope you've enjoyed it!
